I’m Rupert Smith, an award winning British Director, Director of Photography and Shooting Director with over 25 years of experience making quality television and  digital and commercial / branded content . From hard hitting documentaries to adventure and travelogue series to factual, entertainment and reality shows, I work tirelessly to turn complex subjects into compelling visual narratives.

My career started in the UK, followed by 16 years in the US. I’m now based in Perth, Australia and available to work worldwide, I combine my storytelling skills with cinematic vision to create unmissable content, whatever the budget. I’ve also been a successful show runner, can take shows through post and have worked with every major network, cable channel and streamer in both the US and UK markets.

As a Director of Photography, I can work with all major camera brands and can light and shoot everything from single camera interviews to multicam studio shows to dramatic narrative scenes.
